BBQ and Software Engineering, more similar than it may appear
As I was reflecting upon today's impending "Rib-Off" here at SNI, it struck me that there are a number of things that the art and science of barbeque has in common with the art and science of software engineering.
Namely:
1. Both involve a heavily creative component, despite the fact that there are a number of documented (and "properietary") recipes, procedures, and well documented approaches to accomplishing certain goals
2. Both require you to still be able to throw out all the stuff mentioned in step 1 due to lack of available resources and ingredients, and just for the unending quest to "build a better mousetrap" so to speak
3. I'm better at it than the CFO :)
Let the rib-off begin!
